So I had a problem when I had to buy a meat packet. I am person that prefer that my food is encapsled so it does not digest too fast. I am a person that is living for myself and I can not eat a whole packet of meat. This means that the normal meat packed for me is too big and if I open the packed, it starts to digest...
An easy solution to this problem might simply be.... buy a smaller packed ! But the problem with this solution is that the meat becomes more expensive per kilo the smaller the packed is. Another problem was that even though the packed is small I might even only use half of it.
My guess is that more people are having this/these problems aswell.
This problem made me think about a possible solution that manufactors could do to solve this problem.
In order to make a perfect solution I did set up some criterias:
- It had to be cheap solution both for the manufactor and for the customer
- The solution should make the customer prefer this product
- The solution should solve the problm I had
with that in mind I took a look at the current meat packet you could find in the super market, and started to points it's mistake it out.
Some of the mistakes I found was:
- All the meat was one place
- When you open the packed the meat is not protected anymore.
- The packed which the meat is in, is not different from other meat packets.
With that in mind I started to redesign the packed
The solution was very simple and came out like this
The solution was to make 2 or more rooms for the meat in the packed and make it possible to bend the amount of meat you need off from the rest of the packed. That way the meat would still be protected and it would be possible to only use the amount you needed. It is possible to use this solution for other kinds of meats aswell.
I thought this was a good way solve a problem and make consumers prefer a product. The extra cost of making this is very small aswell !The benefits with doing it this way are:
- Only using the meat you need while keeping the rest of the meat sealed
- Low cost to differentiate the product
- Possiblely making it more attractive for single customers to buy bigger meat packets since they can save it longer (by keeping it sealed and protected)
So what do you think ? would you prefer this meat packed compared to a regular one ?
